Portrait shoots are always a great practice in collaboration as the results are hinged on both the people in front of and behind the camera. Every shoot is unique just like the people with vastly different concepts and ideas combining to make something that is very individual.
Nadja spontaneous neghborhood walk with two rolls could not have gone better. Walk a few steps down the road and unreal oppurtunities popped up everytime. The model makes the shoot and Nadja made it too easy.
I meet Monica Salazar at a streetfair with a simple but intriguing setup of a small table with an old typewriter. After a small chat, my amazment was that she was doing poetry live and on-the-fly, very courageous. I was more than happy to give her something for the great service she was doing.
Concept was to lean towards a bit of green to capture the bruce lee dragon type feel of the pictures. Thankfully a little filmsoup recipe I had tested did exactly that so really worked to give these photos another vibe.
Jhana Waddell absolutely graced me with a photoshoot to work on a bit of modeling shoots and she was so pro. Every time I pulled my camera back up from resetting the shutter, she was always ready with the best of poses. The models are so absolutely crucial and Jhana made it too fun and easy.
JohnBlaze and Okello had a collab for the album Vitamin D and I was glad to capture the two together to mark the moment. Walking around, finding some interesting lighting to do some shutter drag and even gave a go at some doubles later on.
Layno got hit with the spark of inspiration for the concept for this space single so I knew I had to bring the heat with some spacey double exposures. When its a hard choice for the cover, you know it a good shoot.
Ryanne Mena is always great to talk to so knew this shoot would come naturally. We didnt have much a plan and decided to wing it with a simple backdrop and lighting but then she busts out insane props and outfits, already a pro. The color came out great and decided to double the black and white with elements found within just a block or two of the studio.
